about

It’s not easy to find the right words for this … I’d never consider my music being political. Not that I don’t have a political stance, but I like my creative output to address the thing we all have in common, no matter where we stand: heart & soul.

Having just finished the next HHNOI album (it’s called „Dear Future“, took nearly two years in the making and will finally be out this autumn), I realize that the last few tracks I finalized at the beginning of the Corona-lockdown in March, do have socio-political influences and sound angry. Which is rather odd if you consider that my music is originally intended to be ambient, downtempo and melancholic.

One of these tracks stands out. „Salt on the Rim“ started initially as an idea to combine ambient music with angry Rap, influenced by how people feel under lockdown. Listening to this now, I realize that Slim Spitta did not only provide the right tonality with his voice and lyrics, but somehow seems to have anticipated the whole shitshow that happened a couple of weeks later in Minneapolis and the rest of the USA.

As this track does not really fit to the rest of the album, and its message is aimed towards what is happening right now, I’d like to donate „Salt on the Rim“ to the bandcamp Juneteenth campaign. Means: you can buy this and another bonus track (not included in the upcoming album) tomorrow June 19th on my bandcamp and your money will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund to support social justice.

If you want to support a good cause, check out my bandcamp tomorrow. It would mean a lot to me, not only as a son of immigrants who had to suffer from injustice, but as a signal on how important change is for the future of humanity … you know what I mean. Thank you for sharing!
